It’s here! Just like I said it would be! Welcome to The INKlings’ Team’s Christmas in July blog hop. You may have arrived here from Fiona’s blog (if you’re going forwards) or another Fiona’s blog (if you’re going backwards) or just be visiting my blog, whichever way, once you’ve checked out my creations you can continue the hop through the link at the end of this post to the next team member. As you can see, I’ve set the table and you’re looking at Nan’s spot at the table ~ Sunnyboy containers at the back left, a place card, a pillow box ‘cracker’, a gift basket and loads and loads of chocolate coins. Yummmmmmmm.
I’ve dug into my “I Wish” Simply Scrappin” Kit for all the goodies I’ve created today, with a little help from “Winter Post” for some stamped images. A very simple place card, using the stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the letters (with a light pencil line for the letters to walk on that was rubbed out afterwards) and one of the die cut strips from the kit was used for the stripe behind Rudolph. I love these strips! They’re cardstock weight and are already sticky, what more could you want? A really quick and effective embellishment. Did you notice the extra-long pillow box that I’ve used instead of a cracker? Here, have a closer look . . . .
This one is choc-full of gold coins (well, it was), but you can buy kits that come with the obligatory paper hat and groan-worthy joke that you could pop inside also (most crafty shops seem to start stocking these in September-October). I’ve made this one using the Pillow Box Die in the Big Shot, but to make it longer than usual, I folded my cardstock in half before putting it through the Big Shot. The fold line sits just on the edge of the crease lines for the end of the box. The fold line is hidden under Rudolph and his belly band! Pretty clever, huh? (As much as I would like to take credit for this, it’s not my idea, many other clever clogs have been doing this for yonks) “What’s that little bit of ribbon in the background?”, I hear you ask. It’s a cute little box made with four scallop envelopes and decorated again with some of the die-cut stickers from the Scrappin’ kit and of course loads of Dazzling Diamonds . There’s nothing in the box in the photo, but I soon filled it up with gold coins (which I am currently emptying out, one by one :D).

great job mum! i think your idea of using a pillow box instead of a christmas cracker is a great idea especially seeing we can put our crappy jokes in there instead hehehehehe.

I love the pillow box ‘cracker’ too – but I think I’d have to include a daggy hat 😉

The pillow box is a great idea – but I agree with Clare, they need the daggy hat!

Those coins are terrible temptations aren’t they? But the other projects you created were great. Thanks for the ideas.
