I’ve mentioned a couple of fund raising activites that I have been participating in lately, so I thought I would let you know what we got up to – other than raising money!

Crop for Kids

It’s been over a month since the big day out at the Springvale Town Hall – I’ve been remiss in not putting up an update of the day. Total amount raised was “somewhere between $4500 and $5000”. Which was a fantastic effort with all the recent pressures on charities with the bushfire appeals. It was a lovely day with quite a few girls from our table taking home prizes and new-mum-of-Noah, Michelle, took home the major prize of a Dell photo printer. She certainly has lots of new baby photos to print, so it will come in handy.

I had an email a couple of months ago from friend who I hadn’t seen for about 13 years. She’d found me while she was googling scrapbook supplies! So we organised to catch up at CfK. Sharon and I used to work together waaay back when.. I think it was about 20 years ago that we met! It was lovely to spend the day chatting and catching up.

I didn’t get many pages done, surprisingly, I was too busy talking – who’da thunk it?

Marysville Bushfire Scrap-a-thon

Lisa organised a wonderful day in Ringwood to raise money for ESA who are providing accommodation for some Marysville families while they rebuild their homes. This is expected to take approximately 18 months, so this is a fantastic resource for those who are currently without a home. Please check out the link to see the great work that has been done so far. This location has been a scrapping retreat for many of the ladies who were at this day and it held a lot of memories for them. I was there showing off some stamping, selling off my retired stamps and I’d planned to do some scrapping too, but ended up working on my swaps for convention and passing time chatting to those who were actually getting some scrapping done ~ hmm I’m sensing a theme here. There was a talk during the afternoon from one of the members from the local Camera Club giving us loads of hints and tips about taking more creative shots rather than just happy snaps for our album. There was much oo-ing and ahh-ing and talk of white balance and camera settings. I think a few people will be signing up for the course on offer so that we can all understand what our cameras can really do. I know I’m thinking about it!

The final amount raised was about $5,100- YAY for scrappers! Isn’t great to be able to scrap, stamp and crop for good?

Hello – - – Goodbye

Hello new SU! catalogue (I KNOW I love it) and goobye to some much loved favourites. When I decide which ones I can bear to part with, I will have a list of stamps up that have now retired that I will have available for sale. But in the meantime, I have been playing with some new sets – -How exciting! I’m trying to post some pictures, >> here << but once again, Photobucket isn’t playing nice.. so maybe tomorrow.

A big “Hello” out there also to another Michelle Frost – she’s searching the world for other Michelle Frosts out there. Here ’searching’ post is here. She’s even found a Michelle Frost that has completed the London Marathon on stilts! It seems there is nothing that we can’t do! why don’t you google your name and see who you come up with?

Crop for Kids is on again this weekend – There’s a group of us that have a table ~ we’ll be the noisy ones. Please come and say hi!

Crop for Kids is on again!

Crop For Kids is a scrapbooking event officially approved by Good Friday Appeal for the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. Last year they successfully raised over $12,000 and $7,500 in 2007. With our help they can achieve more in 2009.

Date: Saturday, 4th April 2009 (the weekend before Easter)
Time: 10am to 5pm
Venue: Springvale City Hall in Springvale
Price: Tickets are A$30.00 per person

Expect ample scrapbooking room, games, trash & treasure, shops, make & takes, etc. Cold and hot beverages, and food (pizza, sandwiches, rolls, etc) will be available for sale on the day. All proceeds will go towards Crop For Kids.

I’m going to be booking a table, so let me know if you’d like to join us! Please let me know by 21 March, with your payment and I will get the table organised! It was great fun, lots of prizes (right, Trish?) and loads of bargains at the Trash ‘n’ Treasure table (right, Raych?)

Off to Convention

It’s certainly getting exciting now. I leave on Thursday morning for Brisbane for the Stampin’ Up! convention. We will get to see all that’s new and wonderful from Stampin’ Up in America, plus loads of great ideas using the products in the new catalogue. I can’t wait to show you when I get back what we get up to ~ creatively of course!

Until then, here’s a little owl that I made at the recnt Crop for Kids and then stuck him on a card that has had the ‘Weathered’ background used on the card. Can you see the envelope? I just had to use the now retired Stem Silhouettes to decorated it.. I love it SO much!

Okay – get out your diary ~ what are you doing on Good Friday next year? I’ve booked a table for the Crop for Kids. I missed out on it this year and had to watch all the fun that Trish & Co were having. It’s a great days fun for a great cause. Crop For Kids is a scrapbooking event officially approved by Good Friday Appeal for the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. The event last year raised over $7500 for the Good Friday Appeal & this year they hope to raise more. There are lots of prizes and goodies for you throughout the day, not to mention the warm fuzzy feeling you get from scraping with friends! Are you in? Put Friday 21 March in your diaries now!
